Listed below is information to help guide both parents and students.
Communication: ClassTag is the best way to contact. We will respond to messages within 24 hours. If you would like to meet in person, please contact the teacher for an arrange time.
Planners: Students will write daily assignments, homework, and projects into their planners. Parents are to sign the planner every night. Each student is responsible in reminding their parent to sign the planner. Fifth graders are to expect homework on a daily basis.
Late Homework: Students are expected to turn in all work on the assigned due date. Students not turning in homework will be required to give up recess time and 10 percentage points will be deducted for each day the homework is late, up to two days. After two days, students will recieve a failing grade. No extra credit will be given at the end of the quarter.
Book Reports: Students will complete about four quarterly book reports throughout the year. Information will be handed out as the book reports are assigned.
Birthdays: Please contact the teacher before sending treats to celebrate your child’s birthday. The treat may be a cookie or something else that is special. Please do not send whole cakes, large cookies or any drinks. The birthday treats will usually be shared at the end of the school day. Summer birthdays can be celebrated on half birthdays during the year or at the end of the year.
Healthy Snacks: Students are allowed to bring a healthy snack everyday as fifth grade lunch is not until 12:20 p.m. Students are allowed to eat the snack during mid-morning snack time only. Healthy snacks include granola bars, fruit, yogurt, etc. Please do not send bags of chips, cookies, or candy.
Biztown Field Trip: For two months leading up to the field trip, fifth grade students learn about how to run a business, manage money, and how an economy works. In March, fifth grade students will run a town for the day at the Juinor Achievement Biztown office in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Please do not schedule any appointments or vacations for that day.
