Kindergarten & 1st Grade Basketball Opportunity - Basketball Camp! During the October Catholic Grade School Athletic Association (CGSAA) meeting, the member schools voted not to offer kindergarten and 1st Grade basketball for the 2018-2019 season, as it has been offered in the past. The kindergarten and 1st grade leagues have struggled with teams fulfilling a full 10 game season. In its place, the CGSAA would like to test out the “Basketball Camp” concept. For 4 to 5 weekends during the season, camps would be offered for kindergarten and 1st grade students. This would be a pay-as-you-go opportunity, with no registration required. Camp dates would be publicized and held at the various Catholic grade schools. Camps would last 1 hour, with the first 30 minutes designed for basic skills training, with the remaining 30 minutes designed for 3 v 3 games. For games, kids would simply be divided evenly among teams, school affiliation will not be considered.
Additional fine tuning will be done in the coming weeks with more information to follow in the Eagle Express. If you have any questions, please contact Barry Schwarz, CSSE Basketball Coordinator at 405.919.6976 or
[email protected].
