Please pray for Linda Klein, grandmother of Madeline Faison, and her family as she battles with aggressive terminal cancer. Keep in your prayers CSSE 5th grade student Jesalyne McKinish, as she continues to recover from a serious infection. Keep Robyn Paliotta, grandmother of Christopher and Sofia Petromilli, in your prayers, as she undergoes her cancer treatment. Pray for Karen Vandiver, great grandmother of Alaina and Davyn Schoppa who is battling breast cancer. Please pray for Joe Hill, husband of former CSSE teacher and librarian Lynn Hill, who was recently diagnosed with cancer.

Host Families Needed for Catholic Retreat Team Students 
The National Evangelization Team (NET) is scheduled to be at The Catholic School of Saint Eugene Catholic School March 14th to facilitate a Middle School Retreat for our students. We will need to provide housing on Thursday March 14th and Friday March 15th as well as dinner on the 14th and 15th and breakfast on the 15th and 16th. The team includes 6 males and 6 females. The team members travel with sleeping bags and are flexible. They can stay in host homes with a minimum of two team members of the same gender staying together. No one team member should ever be housed alone. We are looking for host families to house two or more of the team members. Host families will fulfill ALL of their Time and Talent obligations for this school year. If you are interested, please contact Susan Ison at [email protected] or call the school office. Help Others and Our PE Program with Kids Heart Challenge!
We have raised $9500 of our $11,000 goal for the American Heart Association's Kids Heart Challenge! The more money we raise, the more lives we save! Also, the more money St. Eugene gets for our P.E. program. We have been learning all about making heart healthy choices in P.E. class. Some topics include sodium, sugar, tobacco, and how the heart works. We've also been practicing all kinds of jump rope moves. Middle School will be learning hands only CPR in class this week and how to use an AED.

Sign Up for Fine Arts Night!
Fine Arts Night will be held in the gym on Tuesday, March 5th at 6:30 P.M. This event is designed to showcase the many artistic talents of our students and raise money for the music and arts programs! Students can enter the performance portion of the program to sing, dance, act, play an instrument, or share another talent for the crowd! For culinary arts, students can bake, decorate and submit a dozen cupcakes for the baking competition! 
All proceeds from Fine Arts Night go to the Fine Arts Department and we have many plans to create bigger and better chances for your children to develop their artistic talents. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Whitmire or Ms. Cunkle. We look forward to seeing you there!

Too Sick for School?
Parents, we have had a number of children go home early in the last few days because of illness. Sometimes it happens due to the timing of symptoms appearing. However, please make sure that if your child seems sick or is getting over an illness that they are well enough to go to school. See the chart below.

SALT Book Drive Continued!
The First Grade is continuing our S.A.L.T. mission by creating a lending library. A lending library allows the public to take a book, leave a book. We have purchased and refurbished a bookshelf that you may have noticed near the front doors. Please feel free to donate gently used books to the baskets by our doors. Thanks for your support!

Zane and CSSE Recognized on the News for Coat Drive!
In case you missed it, Zane was on KFOR for initiating the CSSE coat drive, which donated over 130 coats to help others stay warm this winter. Thanks to all who donated, and way to go, Zane! See the video HERE.

ST. EUGENE PARISH NEWS


Baptisms of Children Ages 4-17
Sign Up Seminar for parents and godparents of children ages 4-17 will be Sunday, March 31. English presentation at 10:45 am and Spanish presentation at 1:30 pm. THIS SEMINAR IS REQUIRED. Godparents must bring copies of certificates of Baptism, Eucharist, Confirmation and Marriage (if applicable). If godparent isn't a member of St. Eugene Parish, he/she must bring letter from own parish stating that he/she is a practicing member. Classes for children ages 7-17 will be Sunday mornings, April 7 and April 14, 10:45 am - Noon, Meeting Room 1. Baptisms will be Saturday, April 27 at 8:30 am.


First Communion Grade 2 
Reminder of upcoming events.  
Holy Thursday Mass, April 18, 7 pm: Traditionally First Communion children are part of the procession to transfer the Blessed Sacrament to Ross Hall for adoration.  The children should come to Mass with their parents and then come to the narthex after Communion to line up for the procession.  
Practice for First Communion:  Thursday, May 2, 6:30 pm in the church.  The child has to be accompanied by a parent.  The children come dressed for First Communion as group picture is taken at practice.  
First Communion:  At all the Masses weekend of May 4 & 5.  Please remember to bring your child to the Sacrament of Penance before First Communion. Questions:   [email protected] or 751-7115 ext 115.

First Communion Grades 3 - High School
Sign up Parent Meeting TBA. Classes will be all Saturdays in July 2019, 9:00 am - 12:30 pm. First Communion will be the weekend of August 3 & 4, 2019. Children have to have at least one year of religious education either in the school or in the RE program.

The new Middle School Youth Group will now be ROTATING weeks. It will not be the first Tuesday of the month for 6th graders and second Tuesday for 7th and 8th graders of each month as stated in last week's Eagle Express. Please make note of the following dates for middle school youth group meetings.

EMBRACES: Marriage Enrichment Ministry
We meet the 2nd Saturday of each month after the 5:00 pm Mass for about 1 1/2 hours.

Prayer for a Clean Heart – Parish Mission February 24-26, 2019

Please, Holy Spirit renew my mind, heart and soul. Lord, all I want is to be with You.

Matthew 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
Oh God, heavenly Father! Lord Jesus Christ! Holy Spirit of the living God. Thank You for this, another chance and day You have given to me. Help me to remove all the doubts and unclean thoughts that are inside my mind, heart, and soul now. Let Your power be revealed in me and through me, oh God and create in me a clean heart.

John 14:6 Jesus answered, ” I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
Please wake up this sleeping soul. Use my life, oh God, for Your glory and let my life be the proof of Your unfailing love. Oh, sweet Jesus! You never fail to amaze me. Your love remains in me.

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Please, Holy Spirit renew my mind, heart, and soul. Lord, all I want is to be with You. Oh God, heavenly Father, please freely use me and my life to be a living testimony of how Your power and wonders have worked in me.

Father, bless our Parish Mission. Bring all those who need to hear it’s message of hope and promise. Create in all a clean heart and a right spirit.

May all of our efforts work to bring you Glory!

Psalm 51:10 – Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

All this I ask and pray, in Jesus name, Amen!
