THOUGHTS & PRAYERS
Please pray for Cheryl Zehrung, aftercare assistant and grandmother of Collier Hill and Mason Eckroat, as she will be undergoing open heart surgery, quadruple bypass, on 5/25. Pray for Deacon Terry Givens, grandfather of Ava and Ashlyn Ward and Taryn Mlekoday, as he begins treatment for an aggressive form of prostate cancer. Continue to pray for the healing and improved health of C. Greuel, grandfather of Elliott and Teddy Hattaway. For Señora Connie Fox-Arrington, grandmother of Trinity and Thomas Martin and our beloved CSSE Spanish teacher, as she continues to recover from aggressive breast cancer treatment.

Prayer for Intercession from Fr. Stanley Rother
O faithful shepherd, Blessed Stanley Rother, as priest and missionary, you tilled the soil with your hand and invited Christ Jesus to till the soil of your soul. You became a sign of the love of Christ the Good Shepherd for your People, and blessed their lives by your ministry. You stood firm and did not run from danger, bringing glory to God and His Church in your martyrdom. Blessed Stanley, obtain from the heart of Jesus healing and full recovery for those for whom we pray, and pray for me, that I too may be a sign of Christ’s love among His people. Teach me to faithfully till the soil of this life in the reality given to me by our Father, unafraid to stay with those God has given me, no matter the cost. Through Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Summer Office Hours
Starting June 4, the Saint Eugene school office will be open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9:00am to 1:00pm.

Report Cards
Final report cards will be sent out via RenWeb on June 5. To ensure that you receive your child’s report card, please take care of all financial holds. If you do not receive your child’s report card by June 6, please contact the school office.

Middle School Elective Opportunities for the 2018-2019 School Year 
Saint Eugene will continue to offer electives to the middle school students for the 2018-2019 school year. A few of the electives that will be offered are Engineering Fair/Science Fair, Music Appreciation, Art (different art mediums each semester), Cooking, Leadership, Exploratory Science, Study Skills and Yearbook.  
The week of May 29th , a form will be sent via Renweb for the students in grades 6-7. They will be able to fill out their preferences for first semester. Students are not guaranteed their first choice, and older students will be given first pick of electives. Fifth grade (incoming 6th graders) will not be receiving a form. Sixth grade students will all be taking study skills first semester.
Please email or drop off the form in the school office by Tuesday, June 12. If the form is not received by this date, the electives will be chosen for the student.
Parent Volunteers Needed 
Even though staff members will be the main instructors for these electives, it would be very helpful to have volunteers to help out in the various classes. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Susan Ison at [email protected].

Field Day Family Donations
PTO will be providing a hot dog lunch on field day, we are asking all families to help though with the following donations.
If your last name starts with A-J please bring individual bottles of water, K-P single serve bags of chips and O-Z cookies or brownies

Field Day Fun on the Last Day of School!
Below are the guidelines for free dress on Field Day, Thursday, May 24 (the last day of school).
The following guidelines should be followed:
- Students will be assigned a certain color to wear (see below)
- Shorts, pants and shirts must be without holes.
- Shorts shorts should fall below the fingertips when your arms are down at your side.
- Shirts may be sleeveless. The shoulders of a sleeveless shirt must be at least the width of a dollar bill. Tank and spaghetti strap style shirts are not allowed.
- Logos and graphics on shirts must be appropriate for a Catholic school.
- The regular school policy regarding shoes applies. Open-toed shoes, flip flops, backless/mules or sling backs are not permitted.
- In the spirit of being a school community to avoid feelings of exclusion, we also ask that students do not organize "group outfits or accessories" to wear for the day.
- If students are not in the correct attire, they may not be allowed to participate in field day activities, parents may be called, or they may be given attire to wear.

FINAL Gala Party May 26 - Movies, Snow Cones & S'mores!
School’s out for summer! Come celebrate with a movie outside on the lawn! We will provide popcorn, snow cones and s’mores on the afternoon of Saturday, May 26. $25/student. Must have purchased at the Gala or on the Gala website by May 21, 2018.

Student Placement for 2018-19 School Year
Class division for grades with two or more homeroom teachers rests solely with the school. Individual written requests for student placement will be considered on an individual basis and only under unusual circumstances. Written requests are due to the office by May 24th and will be considered and reviewed only if the student is fully enrolled for the 18-19 school year. 

Grades 4-8 Fall Volleyball - Sign Up Before Summer Break!
Sign up now for your student to play girls volleyball this fall. The registration deadline for grades 4-6 is August 17 and the deadline for grades 7-8 is August 1. Get ahead of the game and register now at  steugeneschool.org/athletics.

2018-2019 VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Calling All High School Students in Need of Service Hours!
If you have a high school student in need of service hours, please contact Susan Ison at [email protected]. There are several jobs around the school that need to be taken care of over the summer and she would be happy to arrange some service opportunities.

Textbook Pick Up Volunteers Needed
Our school saves money by picking textbooks up at the local textbook depositories. If you would be interested in volunteering to pick up textbooks and deliver them to the school during the summer please contact Mrs. Ison at [email protected].

Athletic Commission - Volunteers Needed!
The only positions that remain open for Athletic Commission are Gym Coordinator and Concessions, but we are looking for individuals or families that could rotate duties, so it won't be one person's responsibility! Serving on this committee counts toward Time & Talent hours. Not familiar with Totus Tuus? Totus Tuus (meaning "Totally Yours" in Latin) is a Catholic summer youth program dedicated to sharing the Gospel and promoting the Catholic faith through catechesis, evangelization, Christian witness, and Eucharistic worship. The camp curriculum is a well balanced combination of sacraments, prayer, and fun. Presentations by counselors, small group discussions, and group activities provide an exceptional learning environment for youth with a wide range of learning disciplines. These learning sessions provide opportunities for the youth to discover more about God, themselves, and their peers.

ST. EUGENE PARISH NEWS
CONFIRMATION 2018-2019
Parents who want their children to begin the Confirmation preparation process must attend a parent meeting. Four parent meetings have already taken place – 2 in English and 2 in Spanish.
There will be a final meeting on June 10 from 3:30 – 4:45 in English and from 5:30 – 6:45 in Spanish in the meeting rooms.
THIS WILL BE THE LAST MEETING FOR CONFIRMATION ENROLLMENT for 2018.
Additionally, please remember that classes are filled on a first come first serve basis as the format is small group. There are 4 class time options –Monday from 6:30 – 8 PM, Monday Youth Ministry from 7-9 PM, Wednesday from 6:30-8 PM or Sunday from 3:30 – 5 PM.  You will want to get in your registration as soon as possible so that you get the class option that you want.
Please make every effort to attend this meeting if you want your child to be enrolled for the fall.
