PRAYER REQUESTS
Pray for all those who have been affected by Covid-19, whether by sickness, loss of job, isolation and loneliness, etc. May all find strength, comfort and healing in this difficult time. Please pray for Drew Ratcliff, grandfather of Jesalyne and Montgomery McKinish. He is in the hospital being treated for complications following a surgery. Also pray for their grandmother, Patricia McKinish, who is recovering at home following an emergency surgery from an infection. | Please pray for Marvin Privette, father or our cafeteria manager, Tina Hackett. Return & Retrieve: May 19th 4-5pm (last name A-L) / May 20th 4-5pm (last name M-Z)
Our schoolwide process of returning school items and retrieving student items will take place outdoors on campus next week. Teachers will send lists to families of items to return (textbooks, novels, etc). Chromebooks should be returned as well. Our goal is to allow a family to retrieve items and have a moment to say goodbyes. If you cannot pick up during your designated time, please contact your teacher to make arrangements, For more details, please see Mrs. Goldsworthy's email dated May 10th.
Summer Send Off Parade: Thursday, May 21st from 6:00 - 6:45 pm (rain date: May 22nd 9 am)
Join us in celebrating the start of summer break! Our CSSE Staff will be stationed all the way around the campus starting at the front of the church’s NE driveway and wrapping around to the back of the campus exiting on Utica. Please come drive through with your kids (wear CSSE spirit gear), wave, take a few moments to speak with staff, and allow them to say good-bye for the summer in person. Special Guests: Our Graduating 8th Graders! Come congratulate them on graduating from our amazing school! We are excited to offer these activities to close the year amidst this unusual time! Let’s make the most of it!
Summer Camp Canceled
After much consideration and prayer, the decision has been made to not open the St. Eugene Summer Camp this year. Without evidence-based guidelines and protocols to follow, or adequate time and resources to prepare our campus and our staff, we cannot ensure the safety and health of both the students enrolled in our summer camp and those involved in our church and school communities at this time. This decision bears no weight on decisions for opening school in the fall. It relies solely on time and resources.
School Store Update
The 5th grade class would like to thank all of those who have supported the school store by purchasing items throughout the year. We are pleased to announce that the class presented Friends of Bolivia with a check for $552.00! This was made possible because of your generosity, and it is greatly appreciated.
Memory Book for Mrs. Emerson
Current students, families, former students and colleagues are invited to send in memories and photos of Mrs. Emerson so we can put together a memory book as a retirement gift. We will happily accept videos, photos or written memories in this Google album or you may email to [email protected]
Tomorrow is the Deadline for Financial Assistance Applications
The deadline to apply for Financial Assistance was extended to May 15th. Please see previous editions of the Eagle Express for details.
If you find that your family's financial situation has been negatively impacted by recent events, and you have concerns about your ability to pay and continue at St. Eugene, please reach out to our Tuition Director, Liz Metz, or to Mrs. Goldsworthy to see if we can make arrangements to help.
Parent Input for Placement Next School Year

School Supplies Information to come!
For the 20-21 school year, we will not be using the school boxed supplies that were available for order through the PTO fundraiser. We analzyed the costs/fundraising and would like a less expensive option for our parents. Look for more information in the coming weeks!
Lexia and Dreambox: Program availability through June 30th
For students that have been using Lexia (online literacy program) and Dreambox (online math program) for distance learning, good news! We have been able to secure subscription extensions so students can continue to use them through June 30th! We have been primarily using Lexia with our K - 2nd grade students. The company has extended Lexia to 3rd through 5th grades, and Lexia Power UP program to 6th - 8th grade. 3rd - 5th grade students have recently been added to the program. Teachers will be sending information to parents soon regarding the program should you want your child to utilize the program. Some middle school students have already been added to the program. If you are interested in your middle school student accessing Lexia Power Up, contact Mrs. Lupp.
Fall Volleyball Registration
If your 4th-8th grade student is interested in playing fall volleyball, sign up now! The fall volleyball season is currently scheduled to start one week earlier than usual this year, which means games will be starting in August. Registration deadline is August 5, 2020, to allow times for the teams to form and start practice.

Social Media
Did you know you can view both our Instagram and school Facebook pages without joining either media platform? View our latest photos, videos and updates in your internet browser after dismissing the pushes to sign up. You won't be able to comment or react, but this is one way to get those extra slices of school family and church life. (If you try to view on a phone, you may have a harder time dismissing the push to sign up and download the apps). You can also see our Facebook feed here on the school site at https://steugeneschool.org/socialmedia.

We have rescheduled the dates for Confirmation and First Holy Communion. If you did not receive an email with updated informatio,n and your child is supposed to receive either sacrament this spring, please check with Patty Dearden (Confirmation) or Susan Ison & Judi Wilkinson (First Communion).

Stay Connected with the Church!
Our church staff is doing such a great job trying to keep us connected! You can watch a livestream mass every weekday morning at 8:15 am on St. Eugene Church's Facebook page. Sunday morning mass is also streamed live at 9:30 am and 12:00 pm Sunday on the church YouTube page.
You may have also seen the videos from the church about our parish's financial challenges. If you are able, please make sure you are donating online via Faith Direct (best), or you may mail or drop off checks and cash at the church office.
