Welcome to a new year of school. Kindergarten is a time of huge change and growth. It is a time when children are changing from little kids to big kids. You will see their struggle as they are big kids one day and the next day they've gone back to being little kids, needing your help and crying instead of trying harder. Our hope is to help guide them through this year so at the end of the year they have made a smooth transition. We will be working hard learning to read and write, learning basic math, having fun with science and social studies, and continuing to teach our Catholic beliefs. We go to school mass on Thursdays and we go to the Atrium (Catechesis of the Good Shepherd) once a week. We celebrate many holy days and learn to treat others as we would like to be treated. Math is something we talk about, learn about, and practice throughout each day. Young children love science as it is a real part of their world. We explore our environment-weather, nature, experiments, our bodies, and we learn to use many scienctific tools. Social studies is learning about our school, family, neighborhood, cultures, and famous people. Social studies helps us understand and learn tolerance for those who are not just like us. It helps us be compassionate, responsible human beings who care about others. We are very honored that you have entrusted your child to our care. Thank you.
