PRAYER REQUESTS 
For the repose of the soul of Linda Klein, grandmother of Madeline Faison, as she recently passed away after battling cancer. Please add 5th grade student Mark Roby to your prayers. Pray for Ron Rakes, grandfather of Ellie Stayton, as he was recently diagnosed with lung cancer. Please pray for Jane Frame, grandmother of Jack and William Frame, as she was recently diagnosed with cancer and is currently at home on hospice care. Two family members of Madison and Meagan Pham are still in need your prayers: The girls' paternal grandmother, Nu Thi Do, has been diagnosed with Stage IV cervical cancer and will not be undergoing chemo. Please pray for her, that she will be comfortable and happy for the rest of her life. Also, the Pham girls' paternal uncle, Tien Pham, is battling colon cancer and going thru chemo. Please pray for the Pham family as they go through this difficult time. Keep Robyn Paliotta, grandmother of Christopher and Sofia Petromilli, in your prayers, as she undergoes her cancer treatment. Please pray for Joe Hill, husband of former CSSE teacher and librarian Lynn Hill, who was diagnosed with cancer.

SCHOOL NEWS 

Good Friday Activities
Tomorrow we will start our Good Friday observation with a school wide (grades 1-8) Rosary in the gym at 8:05. Parents you are welcome to join us as we start the day in a quiet, simple, prayerful way. Please remind your child that they may bring their rosaries to school. The students will have Stations of the Cross at 1:45 in the church and again you are welcome to join us. Please remember that dismissal tomorrow is at 2:30.

Catholic Conference of Oklahoma: Tell Legislators to Expand Catholic Scholarships
Thousands of families in Oklahoma are now benefiting from scholarships provided by the Catholic Schools Opportunity Scholarship Fund. We need your help to expand this program and continue improving lives through education.
House Bill 407 proposes to TRIPLE the current cap on allowable private donations to the scholarship fund. And the most critical vote on the bill will be next week!
If we fail to get this bill across the finish line, countless families in need of better education options will be denied this important opportunity.
We expect the vote will be RAZOR THIN. That's why we need your critical help now! Contact your Legislator!

Parking Lot Safety Reminder
Please remember that to maintain safety procedures, students and parents may not walk back and forth during car-line dismissal. Paid parking families' students will be the only students escorted across. If you and your child need to go back into the building, please wait until 3:30 when pick up is over. Also, please refrain from cellphone use while in the car-line. Thanks for putting safety first!

Time & Talent at the OKC Festival of the Arts
Are you interested in volunteering at OKC's Festival of the Arts? We have the opportunity to represent our school and showcase our spirit of volunteerism by covering shifts in the Children's Art Tent on Wednesday, April 24th from 10:45am to 9:15pm. Shifts are available in increments of 1 or more hours. Volunteers from St. Eugene will help families in the Children's Art Tent in a variety of ways like setting up supplies, helping kids get started making art, checking people into the tent, helping with clean up, and simply being a friendly face to welcome families (all while wearing a St. Eugene shirt). You will get Time & Talent if you are wearing a CSSE shirt. Sign up for a time slot >> HERE<<.

Fall Volleyball Registration Open!
It is already time to register for fall volleyball! This year they moved the registration online and the link is below. Registration for 6th, 7th and 8th grade is due by May 1st. Registration for 4th and 5th grade is due by August 16th. Please submit the registration fee to the school office. If financial assistance is needed, please contact Mrs. Goldsworthy. REGISTER HERE!

School Advisory Council Openings
The School Advisory Council (SAC) is looking for new members! The primary role of the SAC is to advise the principal and pastor in policymaking to guide our school community in fulfilling our mission. We especially need volunteers with marketing, education, facilities or law backgrounds. To serve, you must be a practicing Catholic parishioner, 18 years or older. If you’re interested in serving the Catholic School of St. Eugene in this way, please send an email to [email protected] by May 7 introducing yourself and highlighting strengths, experience/ expertise, and any aspects of the school you are passionate about.

Greystone Construction
School families, please be aware that there is road work going on around The Village, including the portion of Greystone west of the school. Be aware the road may be rough this week, and we will have to work around more construction work, including paving, in the near future. We are in touch with The Village, and will make sure we pass along any information ahead of time.

School Cafeteria Closed April 23 - Pizza Option - Volunteers Needed
The school cafeteria kitchen will be closed on the 23rd of April. The cafeteria staff will be attending a food show looking for new and different ideas for our cafeteria. Please make sure to send your childs lunch or pay in advance for the pizza option on this day.  If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call me at 751-0067 ext.122.
Pizza Option
A form went home with students to sign up for pizza on April 23, since the cafeteria will be closed. 2 slices of cheese pizza and a bottled water for $2.00! Each additional slice will be $1.00. Please return the form with cash to the school office by Friday, April 19. Remember to pack a lunch if you are not ordering pizza!
Volunteers Needed for Pizza Day

Boys Fall Volleyball
2019 fall volleyball is now open to boys! The teams will be comprised of all boys and will play in the regular CGSAA fall volleyball league (against boy and girl teams).  However, the boys teams will play up one year. If there are not enough boys at a particular school, they can combine with other schools to form a team.  Please email me if your student is interested or for more information [email protected].

Search for Spanish Teacher 
With Señora's pending retirement, St. Eugene is beginning the search for a dynamic, Spanish educator to teach grades Kindergarten through 8th starting in Fall of 2019. The ideal teacher will not only teach our students the Spanish language, but will seek to broaden their global perspective through the lens of world language and engaging, active lessons. 2 Ways to Earn Free Dress Days with St. EuGREEN Fest!
You can send $3 to school so your child can have a Blue, Green & Jeans free dress day on Fri., April 26th in honor of Earth Day. The money will go to help buy supplies for St. EuGREEN and other Green Team projects. Please put cash or checks (made out to CSSE) in an envelope with your child's name and mark "Green Team."

We will have a second free dress day opportunity on Mon., April 29th, for those who help at St. EuGREEN Fest. If you can't make it to the event as a volunteer, a $10 donation to Green Team will get your students the April 29th free dress day and one Time & Talent hour.





Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Training this Summer 
The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a program that gives the words and materials to share our Catholic faith with the youngest children here at Saint Eugene. It is rooted in the educational principles of Maria Montessori, the Bible, and the liturgy of the Church. This program has shown to encourage a greater participation in Mass and a strong foundation for the reception of the sacraments.  The students in grades Preschool 3-First grade participate weekly in this wonderful program. 
This summer training will be available to anyone interested in this program and sharing their Catholic faith with young children.  The dates of the training are April 29th-June 1st and June 12th-June 15th. For more information or to sign up, please contact Susan Ison at [email protected]. 

What You Give Up for Lent Changes Lives   
This year our school is participating in Operation Rice Bowl through Catholic Relief Services. The rice bowls went home Monday, March 4. 75% of donations to CRS Rice Bowl supports Catholic Relief programs around the world, and 25% supports local hunger and poverty alleviation efforts. ST. EUGENE PARISH NEWS 

Middle School Youth Group
Middle School Youth Group is now ROTATING weeks. Please make note of the following dates for upcoming middle school youth group meetings.

April 23 - 7th and 8th grade  
April 30 - 6th grade
May 7th - 7th and 8th grade
May 14th - NO YOUTH GROUP
May 21st - ALL 3 grades for the last meeting of the school year!  


Vocare Chalice
Due to several generous donors, we have been able to purchase 4 more Chalices. Each Mass will now have a Vocare Chalice for a family/individual to take home and pray over for a week. We need more volunteers for the Saturday 5:00 PM Mass, Sunday, Noon, 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM Masses. To volunteer please call the office, 751-7115 during office hours. We need your name, email (or phone number) and which Mass you attend.


 
First Communion Grade 2  
Reminder of upcoming events.   
Holy Thursday Mass, April 18, 7 pm: Traditionally First Communion children are part of the procession to transfer the Blessed Sacrament to Ross Hall for adoration.  The children should come to Mass with their parents and then come to the narthex after Communion to line up for the procession.   
Practice for First Communion:  Thursday, May 2, 6:30 pm in the church.  The child has to be accompanied by a parent.  The children come dressed for First Communion as group picture is taken at practice.   
First Communion:  At all the Masses weekend of May 4 & 5.  Please remember to bring your child to the Sacrament of Penance before First Communion. Questions:   [email protected] or 751-7115 ext 115. 

First Communion Grades 3 - High School 
Sign up Parent Meetings will be April 28, 2019 in the Meeting Rooms. English presentation is at 10:45 pm and Spanish presentation is at 1:30 pm. Classes will be all Saturdays in July 2019, 9:00 am - 12:30 pm. First Communion will be the weekend of August 3 & 4, 2019. Children have to have at least one year of religious education either in the school or in the RE program. 

EMBRACES: Marriage Enrichment Ministry 
We meet the 2nd Saturday of each month after the 5:00 pm Mass for about 1 1/2 hours. 
After a short program, couples are invited to go on a “mini” date to discuss the topics as they relate to their marriages. If they have children in our FREE “Evening Care”, they can stay with us until 10:00pm. Contact us at: [email protected].
