SCHOOL NEWS New School Hours!
Before and after school Reminders
If a parent needs to come into the school building before school starts, please check in at the school office before going to a classroom.
If a student needs to retrieve something from a classroom after school hours they must check in at the office with their parent and wait for Mrs. Goldsworthy or Mrs. Ison to escort them to the classroom.
Students may never be without a parent before or after school in the school building. This includes the library.
Students will not be allowed to use the library before school unless arrangements have been made with a teacher. If a students is in the library afterschool, they must be supervised by a parent.
Parking Lot Reminders Here are some things to remember to ensure the safety of our students:
Entry through the Ross Hall doors is prohibited. If you would like to walk your child into the school, please only use the northwest Hefner lot doors.
Remember that in the morning, the Hefner/North lot should ONLY be used for those who wish to park in the designated parking spaces (please do not park in the fire lane) and escort their children in. No student is allowed to be dropped off in the Hefner/North lot. These doors are open at 7:40.
In the morning, after 7:30 please do not park in the two rows closest to the gym in the Greystone/South lot. If you are dropping your child off into aftercare or walking them into the gym please park in the middle lot away from the entrance.
During dismissal in the Greystone/South lot, please be aware of students being escorted by teachers to their cars. Once children are present, please put your cell phone or any other electronic devices away.
Student Drop-off and Pick-up It is imperative that parents follow drop-off and pick-up procedures. Students’ safety is of utmost importance. Parents of our youngest students, please make sure you walk with your child in to the building using the designated school
entrance, West end entrance. The main parish entrance is not a school entrance. The parish office will not be used as a drop-off for students. Please refrain from using electronic devices while picking up students. Please refer to the family handbook on our website for specific procedures.
Curriculum Night Next Thursday The Catholic School of St. Eugene will be hosting a Curriculum Night on Thurs, Aug. 23. This evening is a
PARENTS ONLY event where you can attend a presentation by the administration and your child (ren)’s teacher beginning at 6:00 p.m. This event is required for at least one parent to attend.
The evening will begin in the gymnasium and cover general school policies and expectations. The first classroom session begins at 6:30 and the second session begins at 7:00. The middle school teachers will do all of their presentations together in the school gymnasium at 6:30. For our families with more than two children, please contact the homeroom teachers to set up an alternative time. If two parents are able to attend, however, you may split up and attend different classrooms at the same time. We hope this event will enable better communication and understanding between home and school as the school year begins. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Goldsworthy at
[email protected] or call the school office.
Before Care and After Care Information Before care begins at 7am until 7:40am when all student arrival begins. Anyone arriving at the school prior to that time will be charged the before care rate ($5). Parents must sign their students in with Miss Josie.
Aftercare begins after school and ends at 6pm. All children must be picked up by 6 pm. There is a $20 fee per child for every 15 minutes past 6 pm that the child is left in aftercare.
We understand that emergencies do happen, you may reach Mrs. Jenny Blevins at 405-535-1975 if you will be late.
The same rules and procedures are followed in aftercare as in the school. Most of the time simple measures such as time out and redirection will be used but calling the parents about discipline issues can be an option if those practices don't work. If the discipline issue persists we do reserve the right to no longer allow the child to attend aftercare.
Log In to ClassTag Today! We are using a new tool this year to communicate with families. This will be for teachers and admin to communicate weekly updates, activities, announcements, and alert information. It is quite user friendly! Most classrooms were able to get parents’ codes send home on Meet Your Teacher night. If you have not received your code, it should be sent home on Monday. Please download the app and it will walk you through the steps to adding this
communication to your phone/email.
Back to School Sunday This coming Sunday our parish will celebrate our school children going back to school. This is a wonderful gathering of our school families and our parishioners to come together to pray for our school year. We invite all families to attend Mass next Sunday at 9:30am and for a gathering following Mass.
Join CSSE Student Choir
INVITATION TO ALL ST. EUGENE STUDENTS, GRADES 3-8: You are all invited to join the St. Eugene’s choir! We would love to have you join us in praising God with your beautiful voices on Thursday mornings. We will be splitting the group into two separate choirs, allowing you to sit with your classes and Mass buddies on the weeks that your choir group does not sing. Practices will be held after school on Wednesdays and we will sing at Mass Thursday mornings, occasionally on Sundays and maybe even a CHRISTMAS MASS!
Students should come to the music room Wednesday, Aug. 22 if they are interested in joining. We will all sing at Mass Thursday, Aug. 23 and then the choir will probably be divided for the following Masses.
We can’t wait to see your happy faces so you can fill the church with beautiful music!
Amy Gaffney and Kendra Cunkle
Middle School Cross Country Students in grades 6th through 8 are invited to take part in the Clancy Club Cross Country program. Practices will be Mondays and Wednesday starting August 20th at Lake Hefner. For more information please contact Owen at 760-6985.
