3rd Cafeteria Employee Needed
The cafeteria is in need of a third employee. We are needing someone to work, from 11:00 am to 2:00 to 2:30 pm Monday thru Friday, when school is in session. Basketball Season Is Coming! Register Today.
Basketball registration is now open for all St. Eugene students 2nd grade thru 8th. Registration forms have been sent home with students and can also be found on the school website.  Deadline for forms is Friday, October 5th.  Forms should be turned into the school office.  If there are any questions, please feel free to contact Barry Schwarz, SE Basketball Coordinator at 405.919.6976 or [email protected].

Basketball Coordinators Needed
The St. Eugene Athletic Commission is looking for several coordinators for the upcoming Basketball Season.  A Gym Coordinator is needed to facilitate the opening and close of the gym on Saturday’s during basketball season.  A Concession Stand Coordinator is needed to manage the concession stand on Saturday’s during basketball season.  An Assistant Basketball Coordinator is needed to shadow the current Basketball Coordinator during the current year with plans of taking over full responsibilities next year.  If you are interested in learning more about these volunteer opportunities, please contact Barry Schwarz at 405.919.6976 or [email protected].

ACT Aspire Standardized Testing - Oct 15-18
Students in grades 3rd, 5th and 7th will be taking the ACT Aspire standardized test the week of October 15th-18th. If your child is in these grades,  it is very important for them to be present for the testing. It is highly encouraged that outside appointments are not planned on these dates, but if for some reason you know that your child is going to be absent any time this week, please contact your child’s homeroom teacher as soon as possible.

Picture Days are Coming Up
Picture day will be held on Tuesday, September 25 for grades P3 through 3rd grade and Wednesday, September 26 for grades 4th-8th and part time PreK. These will be individual pictures, and school uniforms are not required, however, this is a “dress up” day where church clothing should be worn. Please remember the following guidelines:
- no jeans of any kind (not even colored jeans or white jeans)
- dresses and skirts should be appropriate length- no more than two inches above the knee
- the only shorts allowed are uniform shorts
- no spaghetti straps on dresses unless worn with a sweater
- if leggings are worn, the top should be no shorter than two inches above the knee

Eagles Soar with Accelerated Reader- Aug. and Sept. Reading Competition
August and September is the official kick off for Accelerated Reader at St. Eugene. The class/house in grades 2-5, and 6-8 with the most AR points and 100% participation will win a Sonic drink party. The last day to earn AR points will be September 28.

Sign Up for Academic Bowl! - Volunteers Needed, Too
Academic Bowl is a great extracurricular opportunity for students in grade 4-8! If your child is interested in participating, the forms are due September 25. You can download the form HERE.
To make Academic Bowl happen we need volunteers to help with the training and coaching. If you would like more information or have any questions please contact Susan Ison at 751-0067 extension 148.

7th Grade SALT Project - Civil Rights Speaker, Oct. 9 - All Are Welcome!
As a part of the new service program SALT, the 7th grade class, focusing on human and civil rights, will be hosting a speaker for all middle school students on October 9.  The event will be held in Ross Hall from 9:00-10:15 am. Our speaker is Mr. Michael Korenblit. He is the author of Until We Meet Again, a book about his parent's survival of the holocaust. He is cofounder of the Respect Diversity Foundation, an award-winning producer, activist and social justice innovator. Mr. Korenblit uses his parents’ story as a touchpoint for human rights education. Through his explorations of human rights and human rights abuses around the world, he communicates the responsibility we all share and how participants can make a difference. Parents are welcome to join the middle school students at this event.

Schoolwide Service Program 'SALT' to Launch Sept 27!
Join us as we launch our school-wide service curriculum SALT (Serve, Appreciate, Love, Teach) with Mass on Thursday, September 27! A special blessing will be offered for all classroom SALT volunteers and teachers working together to invite our children to love and serve God through others. In addition, we are honored to have Sister Barbara Joseph Foley (Sister BJ’s Pantry) joining us for morning assembly Friday October 5th. Sister BJ will speak with students for about 15 minutes about the JOY of service. All parents are welcome to join us for assembly on the 5th.

BOYS Volleyball Tournament
The CGSAA is considering having a BOYS Middle School Volleyball tournament in late October. We are being asked to figure out what the interest level is at our schools to determine if there will be enough boys teams who want to play in the tournament. Please let Greg Metz know by Friday, September 21 if your student would be interested in participating. 8th Grade Trash Bag Fundraiser
Back by popular demand, the 8th grade class is selling heavy-duty trash bags from Frontier Bags, Inc. These are high quality bags suitable in size and strength for your household and yard work needs. They are much thicker and more durable than Hefty bags. 

Three sizes of bags available at only $12.50 per roll.

This fundraiser helps the 8th grade class raise money to attend Camp Classen and for a gift given to the parish or school at the end of the year. These bags are wonderful to have at home and your office. Buy them for your relatives, neighbors, and co-workers!

8th Grade Testing
Information has been sent out regarding the Highschool Placement Test (HSTP) for all 8th grade students.   You can register for the test at www.bmchs.org or www.mountstmary.org.
Please remember that it is a requirement that all 8th grade students take this test regardless of where they will be attending high school.  The dates and corresponding sites are:

St. Patricia’s Guild Meeting
Women of the parish are invited to St. Patricia’s Guild Meeting.
When: Thursday Oct.  4th, 9:30am.

What: We will have iconographer, Rodica Cunningham, share her work. She ‘wrote’ the icon of Blessed Stanley Rother that is now on display at the Pastoral Center.

Youth Group Fundraiser

Middle School Youth Group 
We have started our regular Middle School youth group meetings and it's going to be a GREAT year! Make plans to join us each Tuesday from 2:00 - 3:45 for community, discipleship, and fun with your friends. Be sure to get your required paperwork filled out and turned in as soon as possible. Our calendar of events will be going out soon so please make sure Christi has your correct email address.

2nd Grade First Penance/First Communion Parent Meetings 
Parents of second grade students who will be receiving the sacraments of First Penance and First Holy Communion this spring are required to attend information meetings this October. These will be the only parent meetings offered in advance of Grade 2 Spring 2019 First Communions. Attendance at one meeting is mandatory.
