I taught for 11 years in public schools, mostly Transitional 1st through 2nd grade. My husband John and I have one son, Ivan. I was blessed to be able to take a year's leave of absence after Ivan's birth. We came to school mass to give thanks, and I fell completely in love with St. Eugene's School. All that year, every time we drove by the church, I'd say to John, "Wouldn't it be just wonderful if somebody would retire around when Ivan is old enough to start school? Then we could go to St. Eugene's together!"
Lo and behold! Somebody did retire, even sooner than hoped for. I am very blessed to have the opportunity to join this fabulous community!
Our last name is unusual (and mangled in pronunciation more often than not). Borgert should be pronounced "bore" as in "boring" and "gert" as in "Gertrude".
